Tom Hanks’ Bios picked up by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment

November 1, 2017 by Ricky Church

Tom Hanks and director Steven Spielberg are teaming up again on a new science fiction project. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg has picked up Hanks’ sci-fi Bios through Amblin Entertainment. The film will be directed by Game of Thrones‘ Miguel Sapochnik from a script by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell with Robert Zemeckis producing.

Bios will see Hanks as a dying man who happens to be the very last man on Earth. THR’s synopsis of the film says “As he faces his own mortality, he builds a robot to care for his dog, the only thing he truly loves. Finch must teach the robot to become “human” enough to take care for his dog, and also must convince his dog to accept the robot as his caretaker and friend.”

“Bios is an original, emotionally stirring tale that at its core is very much an Amblin movie,” said Spielberg. “I can think of no one more perfect to embody this story about the meaning of being human than Tom Hanks.”

Sapochnik is known for directing several fan-favourite Game of Thrones episodes, including the epic ‘Battle of Bastards’ in its sixth season, an episode which won him an Emmy Award.
