Thor: Ragnarok director has revealed that a villain was cut from the movie

November 1, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Taika Waititi has revealed that a certain villain was cut from Thor: Ragnarok.

The latest film in the Thor franchise, and indeed the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is nearly upon us and Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be a big moment in the movie-going calendar.

The film, directed by Taika Waititi, is predicted to bring in around $400 million for its international opening weekend and is currently sitting at a sterling 74 on metacritic.

But the film you will see in cinemas could have looked a little different once upon a time, as Waititi has revealed that a particular villain by the name of Perrikus was once a part of the movie.

The revelation came during a game played with IGN and stars of the film Tessa Thomson (Valkyrie) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) where they had to guess if a word was the name of a Thor villain or an item of IKEA furniture.

When the name Perrikus was brought up, Waititi instantly recognised it as being a part of the Marvel universe, revealing that he was originally going to be in Thor: Ragnarok.

Perrikus is a deadly foe and is the antithesis of an Asgardian, waging war on the gods after his wife is killed in battle.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge, Taika Waititi as Korg, Clancy Brown as Surtur, Rachel House as Topaz, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg and Zachary Levi as Fandral.
