Jeremy Renner has heard rumblings that Hawkeye might be in Captain America 3

August 26, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Having been absent from Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will return next year for an expanded role in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron [check out a new image of Renner and Whedon on set here], and it looks like we might be seeing more of the archer in Phase Three of the MCU:

“There are rumblings of [a Hawkeye appearance] in Captain America 3,” said Renner in an interview with Collider. “I don’t know what’s going to happen there.  I’ve got to find the time, man (laughs).  I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”

Given that Captain America 3 was initially set to go head-to-head against Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before the DC ensemble moved forward two months, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directors Joe and Anthony Russo were looking to squeeze in a few big name characters alongside Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who is expected to be joined by the likes of Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier) in the 2016 threequel.

Would you like to see Hawkeye featured in Captain America 3? Let us know your thoughts…
