Kyle MacLachlan is “thrilled and humbled” by his Twin Peaks Golden Globes nomination, 26 years after first winning

December 15, 2017 by Samuel Brace

In 1991, Kyle MacLachlan won a Golden Globe for his role in Twin Peaks, and now, 26 years later, he has picked up a nomination for the very same show.

Much was expected of Twin Peaks upon its return and for ardent fans of the surreal David Lynch mystery series, it didn’t disappoint. The Golden Globes certainly seem to agree, handing out a nomination to Kyle MacLachlan for best actor.

Over the moon about the news, MacLachlan provided his response to the nomination (via Deadline), one that is incredibly sweet after first winning for the show all those years ago.

“I’m truly thrilled and humbled by the nomination this morning. What a surreal experience to be nominated today for a role that I was so lucky to win this award for 26 years ago,” said MacLachlan in his official statement. “I am so grateful to the HFPA for this acknowledgment, and to David Lynch for creating this very special universe and allowing me [to] revisit it.”

MacLachlan also took to the Twin Peaks twitter page, answering some fan questions about the nomination. One person asked him how he would celebrate the nomination: as Agent Cooper, as Mr. C, or as Dougie?

MacLachlan responded, rather amusingly: “I am going to celebrate as all three,” he said. “That means I’m gonna have a nice, hot, black cup of coffee.”
