Chandler Riggs has revealed when he learned about Carl’s fate on The Walking Dead

December 14, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs has revealed when he learned about the demise of his character Carl.

Carl is one of the few original characters left from The Walking Dead season one; over the years, faces have come and gone, but Rick’s son has managed to hang on.

This season, however, we discovered that Carl is not long for his world, having been bitten by a zombie a few episodes prior to the mid-season finale. Rigg’s father wasn’t very happy about development, but the actor himself was a little calmer about his exit.

Speaking to the AMC website (via ComicBook.com) Riggs revealed when he learned that Carl would be leaving the show:

“I was super surprised. I was not expecting it at all,” Riggs admitted. “I don’t think any of the fans were expecting it. I found out during rehearsal for Episode 6, which was back around June. It was really weird for a while… but I’m going on to do lots of other cool and exciting things. I just booked a movie and that’s really exciting stuff. It’s definitely not the end for me. It might be the end for Carl, but not for me.”
