Michael Douglas says Paul Rudd is too “ripped” for his Ant-Man suit

September 8, 2014 by Thomas Roach

In an interview with MTV, actor Michael Douglas revealed that Paul Rudd is “too ripped” for his Ant-Man costume in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie of the same name.

Douglas stated that, “Paul Rudd is ripped, he’s been training and working out for this picture for a long time. He was so cut, that they had to soften his costume up, with all the built-in six-packs and all of that.”

Rudd plays the character of Scott Lang, who in the comics becomes Ant-Man after stealing the suit from Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. Douglas plays Pym, although he has stated that he won’t be donning the suit himself: “My costume will be hung up, and Paul will be wearing it in good form”

With the inclusion of John Slattery – who played Howard Stark in Iron Man 2  – there is a chance that we’ll see Hank Pym working with S.H.I.E.L.D. early on, and so we may yet get another actor wearing the Ant-Man suit as Pym.

Ant-Man is set for release on July 17, 2015, with Peyton Reed (The Break-Up) directing a cast that includes Paul Rudd (I Love You Man) as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas (Behind The Candelabra) as Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll (House of Cards) as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket, John Slattery (Iron Man 2) as Howard Stark and Bobby Cannavale (The Long Play), Michael Peña (American Hustle), Abby Ryder Fortson (Togetherness), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight), Wood Harris (The Wire), Gregg Turkington (The Comedy) and T.I. (American Gangster) in as yet-unrevealed roles.
