Jeremy Renner is interested in a Hawkeye movie but wants it sooner rather than later

December 21, 2017 by Samuel Brace

If a Hawkeye movie is to ever be made, Jeremy Renner says it needs to get going soon.

It’s likely every actor behind a Marvel superhero character would love their own solo movie. Jeremy Renner, the man behind the Avenger known as Hawkeye, has admitted that he falls into this category.

But while he and fans of the character would like for Hawkeye to be leading his own film, the actor says that if it is going to happen, he would need it to happen soon, before age gets the better of him.

The 46 year-old star revealed as much when speaking to the South China Morning Post about this very subject:

“It would be a wonderful thing. Just don’t wait too long! I don’t want to be in my 50s in tights.”

Renner wouldn’t be the only 50 year old to still be suiting up for a superhero adventure of course. Robert Downey Jr. is already in his 50s after all. But we can see where Renner is coming from. The ball is in Marvel’s court.

Meanwhile, Renner was also asked about his role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, although he refused to be drawn on rumours that Clint Barton will be taking on the persona of Ronin:

“I can’t get into the theories … I know [Ronin] is in the comics, but otherwise I don’t really know anything about that stuff… We’re doing a lot of really wondrous things that I’ve always wanted to do with this character … I think everyone will be very pleased when they find out what happens.”
