Netflix orders limited series Unbelievable

January 27, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Netflix has placed an eight episode order for Unbelievable, a limited series from writer Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich), which is being produced by Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly (Masters of Sex) and news anchor Katie Couric for CBS TV Studios.

Written by Grant, Michael Chabon (John Carter) & Ayelet Waldman (Applebaum), Unbelievable is based upon T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2015 article ‘The Unbelievable Story of Rape’, as well as ‘Anatomy of Doubt’, an episode of the radio show This American Life.

The series will tell the story of Marie, a teenager who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who followed a twisting path to arrive at the truth. Grant is set to serve as showrunner, as well as executive producing.
