Kevin Feige says the Disney/Fox deal won’t impact MCU films that are currently announced

February 1, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, has said that the Disney/Fox deal won’t change things with regards to the current Marvel Cinematic Universe films in progress.

While many fans are hoping to see the X-Men or maybe the Fantastic Four turn up in already announced MCU movies, Feige has said that fans shouldn’t expect that to happen. The monumental deal agreed last year that saw Disney buying multiple Fox properties, has yet to be finalised and still has to go through various proceedings.

Speaking to Vulture, Feige said that this means Marvel Studios have to focus on the films currently announced, without thinking about the characters that might be available once the deal goes through:

“The truth of the matter as I understand it is the deal has to be figured out. There’s been no communication. We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do. … It would be years away. We’ve announced everything through 2019, so none of those would be adjusted.”

While some fans may be disappointed to hear this, these things do take a while and if audiences have managed to wait this long to see the X-Men and the Avengers side by side, surely they can hang on just a little longer. Assuming, of course, that the deal doesn’t fall through.
