Marvel Studios celebrates 10 year anniversary with class photo and video

February 8, 2018 by Ricky Church

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a groundbreaking achievement for the superhero genre and film in general, launching multiple successful series in one huge collaborative franchise. Its been so successful that other film studios have sought to copy Marvel’s method, whether its Warner Bros. and DC, Paramount’s Transformers universe, the Godzilla/King Kong universe or Universal’s (albeit failed) Dark Universe monster series.

This year marks the 10th anniversary since the MCU began back in 2008 with its very first film, Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. as the billionaire playboy Tony Stark and his heroic alter-ego Iron Man. Aside from being the anniversary, this year also marks the culmination of the MCU’s first ten year’s with this summer’s release of Avengers: Infinity War, paying off several years of build up as the Avengers finally face the Mad Titan Thanos in his race to gain the Infinity Stones.

To celebrate the occasion, Marvel, ahem, assembled its Avengers, directors, producers and artists in one giant ‘class’ photo. The large picture has several key players from the MCU, both past and present, to celebrate the milestone and shared a video of the photo as well.

Appearing in the large photo is Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, Chadwick Boseman, Brie Larson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Holland, Sean Gunn, Hannah John-Kamen, Zoe Saldana, Angela Bassett, Jon Favreau, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kurt Russell, Danai Gurira, William Hurt, Karen Gillan, Emily VanCamp, Tessa Thompson, Don Cheadle, Dave Bautista, Michael Peña, Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Frank Grillo, Letitia Wright, Laurence Fishburne, Linda Cardellini, Sebastian Stan, Ty Simpkins, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Benedict Wong, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeff Goldblum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stan Lee, Scott Derrickson, Trinh Tran, Alan Taylor, Brad Winderbaum, Louis Letterier, Jon Watts, Sarah Finn, James Gunn, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Joss Whedon, David Grant, Mitchell Bell, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Jeffrey Ford, Peyton Reed, Jonathan Schwartz, Stephen Broussard, Ryan Coogler, Jeremy Latcham, Nate Moore, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Taika Waititi, Erik Carroll, Ryan Meinerding and Craig Kyle.

Additionally, Marvel announced a series of sweepstakes for the fans. The ‘Marvel 10-Year Sweepstakes’ will take place across social media from February 8 to March 15. Fans can post a photo of themselves on Twitter or Instagram and/or tweet their favorite personal memory from the film of the week using the film hashtag and #Marvel10YearSweepstakes to be entered for a chance to win. Each week, a drawing will take place and a winner will be selected. The weekly winner will receive the Ultimate Marvel Fan prize package, including a Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel set visit; Marvel Studios visit and tour; tickets to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War premiere; all transportation and lodging; and more.
