Space survival sim Deep Sixed launches on Steam

February 12, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Deep Sixed is out today on Steam for and with it comes your chance to venture into space with an engrossing story about engineering, artificial intelligence and survival.  The game is currently available with a generous 25% discount but be quick as this discount is only valid until the 19th February.

In this rogue like space sim a large yet secretive corporation known as Astra Interstellar Solutions is the only company that has the technology to fold space and travel vast distances.  For some reason this corporation has an interest in a large uncharted nebula called MG251 and to get the area mapped as quickly as possible they have conscripted convicts and undesirables to take inadequate ships to the nebula.  As one of society’s undesirables players become the ‘Pilot’ of one of these ships and, along with an intellectually shackled AI unit, explore as much of the nebula as possible.

Nebula MG251 will provide plenty of challenges for pilots which range from malfunctioning ship components to alien attacks, however, there are equipment upgrades that can be discovered to raise the chances of survival.

Deep Sixed features:

  • Simulated and realistic ship management – if something breaks, it’ll stay broken until it’s fixed.
  • A universe filled with procedurally generated mysteries.
  • Explore a completely alien ecosystem – each with its own predator, prey and scavenger species.
  • A steep difficulty curve.

“With Deep Sixed, we wanted to develop a game where players felt like authentic space engineers – learning how their spacecraft operates and applying that experience to solving complex issues that go way beyond pressing ‘E’ to repair a core system or two. Other games might have you play the role of the stalwart space-captain righting wrongs and seducing attractive alien species. Deep Sixed is a love-letter to the Scottys, Geordis, and O’Briens of world – armed with nothing but a space wrench and a roll of duct tape.” said Ryan Hewer (Project Director, Little Red Dog Games).

Deep Sixed is available now on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux.
