Deadline is reporting that X-Men and Taken star Famke Janssen has signed on to star alongside Nicolas Cage in director Nick Powell’s upcoming indie action thriller Primal.
The film sees Cage playing a big game hunter for zoos “who has booked passage on an Hispanic freighter with a fresh haul of exotic and deadly animals from the Amazon, along with a political assassin being extradited to the U.S in secret. The assassin escapes and releases the captive animals, throwing the ship into chaos.”
Janssen, whose recent credits includes appearances on How to Get Away With Murder and Blacklist: Redemption, is set to portray a neurologist lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in the film, which will begin shooting in April in Puerto Rico.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Nicolas Cage is set to lend his voice to Superman in Warner Bros.’ animated feature Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, while he is also currently shooting the drug trafficking thriller Running With the Devil.
