The Purge 3 has James DeMonaco returning

October 7, 2014 by Thomas Roach

After The Purge: Anarchy outperformed the first movie, we expected a third film in the series, and it is now official that writer and director James DeMonaco will be returning for the third instalment. The film series follows the day of an event called The Purge in which all crime’s are legal for 12 hours.

The Purge came out in 2013 and grossed just under $90 million worldwide, whilst the second movie The Purge: Anarchy was released this year and grossed $108 million worldwide. Depending on the turnaround on the project we could expect the film as early as next year.

In an interview with Deadline, James DeMonaco said:

“I never imagined that The Purge would become the phenomenon it has become and I am thrilled to continue my collaboration with Blumhouse, Sebastien Lemercier, Platinum Dunes and the great team at Universal in building The Purge into a worldwide franchise.”

The film series has a great deal of potential to explore the Purge all over the world and the series may not be limited to a trilogy. Are you excited for another Purge movie? Let us know…
