Seven-part Dredd mini-series “Dark Judges” coming soon

October 7, 2014 by admin

Fans who have been clamouring for a sequel to 2012’s Dredd might still be waiting for the good news, even with the #DayofDredd campaign doing well and Karl Urban’s recent talk of “development”. While we wait to hear of the next update, an online Dredd mini-series has been announced. But before you get too excited, it’s more a spin-off.

Dredd producer Adi Shankar has revealed that he has been working on a spin-off mini-series based on the Dark Judges. The series is set to start later this month and has been developed in complete secret. Best of all, the series will be shown for free!

Shankar told TheWrap about the project, saying it was going to be part of his “Bootleg Universe”, which has also included Thomas Jane reprising his role as Frank Castle in The Punisher: Dirty Laundry , and Venom: Truth in Journalism, which starred Ryan Kwanten as Eddie Brock.

No word yet on whether Karl Urban or Olivia Thirlby will be returning to the Dredd series.

Dredd was released to a lot of critical praise (unless you’re our own Rohan Morbey) and talk of a sequel has been on the cards for some time now. But problems with right issues has delayed the project. A seqeul comic, Dredd: Underbelly, was released earlier this year.
