Jack Whitehall to take a Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson

March 27, 2018 by Gary Collinson

British comedian Jack Whitehall (Bad Education) has become the latest addition to the cast of Disney’s Jungle Cruise, joining Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place).

Based on the Disney Parks attraction and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows), Jungle Cruise sees Johnson as Frank, a a witty riverboat captain cursed with immortality who takes Lily Houghton (Blunt) down river on her quest to search for the Tree of Life. Whitehall will play Blunt’s brother, described as a key role.

Disney is hoping to repeat the success of Pirates of the Caribbean with Jungle Cruise, developing the project as a potential franchise. Michael Green (Logan) has penned the latest draft of the script, which was originally written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek Beyond, Godzilla vs. Kong).

Along with The Bad Education Movie, Whitehall appeared in 2016’s Mother’s Day, and also has a role in Disney’s upcoming fantasy The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which is set to open in November.
