Jai Courtney says Terminator: Genisys will likely be PG-13

October 9, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Terminator: Genisys is not due out until next summer, but many fans are intrigued by the reboot of the classic sci-fi action franchise. Not much is known about the project other than it will retell the original two films after something alters the timeline. However, it looks like Genisys is not opting for the darker tone of the first two movies, and will likely to have a PG-13 rating.

In an interview with The Arnold Fans, Jai Courtney – who plays Kyle Reese in the film – stated: “I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will. I think in this day and age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence.”

So, it would seem the latest instalment of the Terminator franchise seems to be opting for levels of violence and action similar to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation rather than the first two movies made by James Cameron. It could still have a higher rating but with Courtney acknowledging they haven’t use the F-word, it would appear highly unlikely. Is this news disappointing to you? Let us know…

Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), Terminator: Genisys sees Arnold Schwarzenegger joined by Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man), Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Byung-hun Lee (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games), Michael Gladis (Mad Men), Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) and Douglas Smith (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters). The film is set for release on July 1st 2015.
