A Taylor Swift episode was apparently “the last straw” for the Deadpool animated series

March 31, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was announced that FX Networks has pulled the plug on its animated Deadpool series from Marvel Television and creators Donald Glover and Stephen Glover, with the network citing “creative differences”.

Donald Glover responded by tweeting out a mock script for the show’s “finale”, which saw the Merc with a Mouth taking a few jabs at Marvel about the series’ cancellation [read it here], and now his brother Stephen has shared his own comments on the situation with a series of now-deleted tweets that were caught by The Wrap.

“There definitely was a Taylor Swift episode,” said Glover. “It was HILARIOUS. And it was definitely the last straw lol. Our show wasn’t too black. It wasn’t really that black at all. But we definitely wanted to give Rick and Morty a run for their money and I think we would have. Proud of the gang.”

The Deadpool series originally received a 10-episode straight-to-series order from FX Networks, and it was expected to premiere on FXX later this year. It’s still possible that another network or outlet could come in to pick up the series, but at this point it would seem a long shot that the Glovers will have any involvement if Marvel does decide to seek out a new home.
