Inferno release date pushed back to October 2016

October 9, 2014 by Thomas Roach

The adaptation of the Dan Brown novel Inferno has been delayed by almost a year. The film is being helmed by Ron Howard, who directed the other adaptations of the books in the series, The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, with Tom Hanks also set to return as Robert Langdon.

The film was originally set for release on December 18th 2015. However this is also the release date of Star Wars: Episode VII which will surely dominate the box office at that time. The delay is also being attributed to not having enough time to complete the film.

Shooting for Inferno begins in April after Ron Howard has finished In the Heart of the Sea and when Tom Hanks finishes the untitled Cold War thriller directed by Steven Spielberg. This would surely have left them pushed for time to finish the film by December.

Inferno once again follows professor of Robert Langdon as he attempts to solve a riddle which in influenced on the 14th Century epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
