Christopher Nolan in talks for Bond 24?

May 17, 2013 by admin

With Sam Mendes passing on the opportunity to helm the next instalment in the James Bond franchise, Eon Productions has a pretty big job on its hands replacing the Skyfall director for 007’s next big screen adventure. However, if a new rumour is to be believed, it seems that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are looking to turn to another acclaimed British filmmaker, with The Daily Mail reporting that Christopher Nolan is in early talks about directing Bond 24.

On the surface, it seems highly unlikely that Nolan could fit Bond 24 into his schedule, with The Dark Knight Trilogy director currently prepping his mysterious sci-fi flick Interstellar, which is due to open in cinemas on November 7th, 2014. However, back in March MGM Chairman Gary Barber said to expect Daniel Craig’s fourth outing “within the next three years” so it could be a possibility if Sony, Eon and MGM – and Craig – are prepared to wait until late-2015 / 2016 for the next instalment.

Of course The Daily Mail’s report only states that “informal talks have begun”, which could be nothing more than a quick phone call to Nolan’s reps from Broccoli and Wilson inquiring about his availability. Or it could just be pure speculation, based upon the fact that Nolan’s name is sure to have come up as a potential replacement for Mendes. Still, if it is true, I doubt there’d be too many complaints if the producers did manage to get Nolan on board, and if Bond 24 is too soon, there’s always Bond 25…
