Natalie Dormer lands lead role in The Forest

October 22, 2014 by Amy Richau

Game of Thrones’ Margaery Tyrell, actress Natalia Dormer, will star in Jason Zada’s supernatural horror film The Forest in 2016 according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The site reports that the film is set in the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji, and centers on a young American woman (Dormer) who goes in search of her missing twin sister. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders the forest.

This will be director Jason Zada’s first feature length film. He has previously directed three short films, most recently Take This Lollipop (2011). The Forest is based on an original idea by David S. Goyer who wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins, Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Goyer is also serving as a producer for The Forest.

Currently Dormer is the only actor attached to The Forest. She can next be seen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 as Cressida. The Forest is expected to release in January 2016.
