Sons of Anarchy Season 5 – Episode 11 Review

April 18, 2013 by admin

Paul Risker reviews the eleventh episode of Sons of Anarchy season 5…

Well who would have thought it? Kurt Sutter for the first time in season five of Sons of Anarchy misfires. After an impressive run of near perfect consistency, I found myself observing any number of nagging problems. To list them all would take up far too much of your time, let alone mine. So what were the main nagging problems I observed? Well here are ten Season 5 – Episode 11 ‘To Thine Own Self’ annoyances:

    1. The continued presence of bad language.
    2. The continued presence of violence.
    3. Ron Perlman unable to mimic John “Smallville” Schneider’s favourite word “Son.”
    4. Jax’s dislike of being called “Son”, despite a young Superman being perfectly okay with it.
    5. Danny Trejo seemed as if he would have been more interested if buddy Robert Rodriguez were on the other side of the camera. Seemed to be channelling a Rodriguez rather than a Sutter character.
    6. Tara’s hair was out of place; detracting from the natural beauty of Miss Siff.
    7. Uncer and Clay’s drug use.
    8. The opening shot overrunning by a second.
    9. No WWF style opening safety message to remind us that everything in the episode is performed by highly trained professionals, and we should not attempt to re-enact anything seen on screen.
    10. The negative depiction of the family.

Here at Flickering Myth we apologise for the absurd fault finding, but after such glowing reviews for the past ten weeks, we felt we should throw out there a few criticisms. Obviously this was quite the task as you’ll most likely have observed.
