Several actors testing for the role of Henry in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

November 3, 2014 by Thomas Roach

With Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales moving ahead and looking to shoot in Australia next year, it was only a matter of time that we would get some casting rumours. Just a few weeks ago it was rumoured that Javier Bardem was being eyed for the film’s villain, and now it seems the producers are looking for some young male actors for a lead role.

According to reports, a number of actors are being considered for the role of ‘Henry’, with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), George Mackay (Pride), Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent), Mitchell Hope (The Descendants), Ansel Elgort (The Fault In Our Stars) and Sam Keeley (In The Heart Of The Sea) all having tested for the role.

Other than the name Henry there are no more character details but some are speculating that this may actually be the son of Will Turner, who was played by Orlando Bloom in the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. There has also been speculation that Orlando Bloom will return for this instalment along with other iconic characters from the series ,but nothing it confirmed.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will see Johnny Depp returning to the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow and Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg directing. The film is set for release July 7th, 2017.
