Martin Freeman joins Tina Fey in Taliban Shuffle

November 22, 2014 by James Garcia

According to THR, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Sherlock actor Martin Freeman  has joined the cast of Taliban Shuffle, a Paramount comedy from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

Freeman joins Tina Fey and The Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie, in the adaptation of journalist Kim Barker’s wartime memoir. The book recounts Barker’s arrival in Kabul, what it was like being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, and dealing with spurts of boredom and violence in a “promiscuous war-correspondent culture.”

Fey will play Barker’s character, while Freeman will portray her unexpected love interest, a Scottish photojournalist. Robbie plays a competing, hard-core on-air reporter.

Taliban Shuffle does not currently have a release date. The film is produced by Fey and Lorne Michaels.
