Gemma Atkinson rumoured to be up for Supergirl TV series

December 31, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Now, this comes from the UK tabloid The Sun, so the chances of it having any truth to it are slim, but according to the newspaper former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson is in contention for the role of Kara Zor-El in CBS’ upcoming Supergirl TV series and is waiting to hear if she has been cast.

According to the rather dubious “source close to the actress”, “Gemma is a huge fan of comic books so this is something she’d jump at. It will make her huge Stateside. She said next year will be her best yet whatever happens. If she gets Supergirl it will be amazing, or if she begins working on Emmerdale that will be great too.”

Atkinson is the second actress to be linked to the title role in Supergirl after Claire Holt (The Vampire Diaries). The project is being developed by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash), along with Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family), and has a series commitment from CBS.

Update: It seems we won’t have long to wait for casting news on Supergirl, as casting director David Rapaport has took to Twitter to state that “she’s coming soon”…
