After many false starts and delays, it looks like Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) has finally got the wheels moving on his latest project, The Neon Demon.
Last autumn it was announced that Cliff Martinez would provide the score and cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd (The Grandmaster) would photograph the film for him. Now it seems that Refn has begun casting, with the director taking to Twitter to announce the news that Maleficent star Elle Fanning has come aboard the picture in the lead role that Carey Mulligan (Drive) was circling at one point.
No plot information is available just yet, but The Neon Demon has been described as “a horror film about vicious beauty” set in Los Angeles.
