Marvel’s Jeph Loeb talks Agent Carter crossing over with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

January 15, 2015 by Luke Owen

In this day and age, it has become somewhat of a prerequisite for comic book shows to crossover with one and other – or to at least be connected in some way. There has been a lot of talk lately over at the DC side of things with details of Arrow and The Flash crossing over with Supergirl – and even the possibility of Batman joining the mix.

Over at Marvel, they are celebrating the launch of Agent Carter and have been talking about its role within the Marvel Universe. When asked if the show would ever cross over into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jeph Loeb said, “as we like to say, it’s all connected,” pointing to their long-running hashtag #ItsAllConnected.

Loeb also talked about how Marvel connect their shows to the audience, “what we try to do in all our stories is hit three basic areas,” Loeb told reporters. “We like to have our heroes come from a place that is very empathetic, and at same [time] are very aspirational. Both the writers creating those characters and characters themselves… every single one of them has that unique thing that the audience wants: You like them and they also have an entry point for them.”

“At the end of every episode… you have a feeling that this is going to turn out OK,” Loeb added, noting that humour and levity are an important part to Marvel’s ‘secret sauce’.
