The Walking Dead will be like a “new show” in season 9

April 12, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The Walking Dead season 9 will be like a “new show” according to the series’ showrunner.

When a show lasts as long as The Walking Dead has, now approaching its ninth season, it becomes important to mix things up a little, to change direction slightly in order to keep things fresh and interesting for audiences.

This is exactly what The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple has in mind for the AMC show’s ninth season, telling EW that the end of season eight is going to start a new era for the series:

“This show will be very much a new show next year and with a bigger, new narrative. It was something I was really excited about getting into even before season 8. And so there was just a certain weight in the air of the kind of conclusion that we were getting closer to. It was a weird graduation for everybody.”

Fans will surely debate whether The Walking Dead needs to be a “bigger” entity going forward but changing things up is without question a smart move if the series wants to continue long into the future.
