Late last year it was revealed that David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) was teaming up with The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt to produce an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s classic comic book series Sandman, and now the project has found itself a screenwriter.
According to Deadline, British scribe Jack Thorne – whose credits include Skins, This Is England ’86, ’88 and ’90, and How I Live Now – will pen the long-awaited adaptation, which revolves around Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, who escapes after being held captive for 70 years, seeking to rebuild his kingdom as he adjusts to the times. At this point, it’s unknown whether Gordon-Levitt will take on the role of Morpheus or restrict himself to a producing capacity.
