Take a look back at the cinematic evolution of Batman

February 10, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

The most enduring superhero of them all in cinema terms is The Dark Knight, with over ten screen interpretations of the Batman character since his comic book debut in May 1939.

Today, an 11-minute video has surfaced which brings together all of those different versions of the character in a wonderful retrospective look, which includes versions from the 1940s, the 1966 version with Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo, Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s 1989 revival and the subsequent films that followed through the 1990s, right up to 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, the culmination of director Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader.

Edited by Jacob T. Swinney, The Evolution of Batman In Cinema, is a wonderful, exhaustive look at the Dark Knight incarnations, and just how different each version has impacted the mythology of the character over the years. Check it out…

The latest incarnation featuring Ben Affleck as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, opens in cinemas worldwide March 2016.
