Dan Aykroyd defends Ghostbusters remake, “I believe in female empowerment”

February 18, 2015 by Luke Owen

Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters remake is really facing an uphill struggle if the comments from the more vocal fans are anything to go by. We’ve already heard Ernie Hudson denounce the movie and then change his mind, but we’ve also heard more positive thoughts from original Ghostbusters co-writer and star Dan Aykroyd.

“The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy,” Aykroyd said last month. “My great grandfather, Dr. Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbuster, was a man who empowered women in his day, and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business.”

Well, that positivity continues.

“I’m going to be an executive producer and I will of course be helping in any way I can,”Aykroyd told Fox Business News yesterday. “I’ve got three daughters so I believe in female empowerment.”
