Nicolas Cage to re-team with Oliver Stone for Snowden

February 23, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas, Joe) has joined an already stellar cast for Oliver Stone’s Snowden. Cage – who previously worked with Stone on World Trade Center – will play a former U.S. Intelligence Officer in the film.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in the title role as Edward Snowden, a whistleblower who was charged in 2013 with two counts of violation of the Espionage Act and Government theft. His story was told in Oscar winning documentary Citizenfour, directed by Laura Poitras, which claimed the Best Documentary prize at last night’s ceremony.

Shailene Woodley (The Fault in our Stars), Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Rhys Ifans (Greenburg), Timothy Olyphant (Justified) and Tom Wilkinson (Belle) star in the film alongside the newly announced Cage.

Filming is underway in Munich at the moment, which will conclude in May ready for its newly announced release on Christmas Day.
