Another source claims Space Jam 2 isn’t happening with LeBron James

February 24, 2014 by admin

It seems to be news that is dying quicker than it began. We noted over the weekend that Deadline were reporting on a sequel to the 1996 animated/live action “classic” Space Jam with LeBron James starring in the place of Michael Jordan. The story claimed that Warner Bros. were working on the movie with Charlie Ebersol (Ithuteng: Never Stop Learning) producing through his own production company from a script by his brother Willie Ebersol.

We also noted in the news story that SportsCentre were quoting multiple sources who claim that James would not be involved in the picture. And now it seems that we have more sources claiming Space Jam 2 is not going ahead with the Miami Heat star.

NBA writer for ESPN Brian Windhorst stated that, “LeBron sources refute Deadline report, there’s no Space Jam 2 or Warner Bros project in works”.

Given that the Ebersol brothers have been linked to the project, it would appear that Space Jam 2 is in the works, just not with LeBron James.

Space Jam was released in 1996 and saw Michael Jordan teaming up with Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes gang to take on alien monsters in a game of basketball. The film wasn’t a critical success, but it did earn $230 million around the globe, making it the highest grossing basketball movie of all-time.
