Having reached its initial target of $2 million in just 24 hours, the IndieGogo campaign for Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 2 has now closed, with the sequel to the cult 2001 comedy clearing over $4.4 million in total.
The sum is the second-buggest total for a crowdfunded film after Veronica Mars, which received pledges of $5.7 million on Kickstarter back in 2013.
Super Troopers 2 will see the return of Broken Lizard members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, and it set to go into production in May. Distribution is already locked in place, with 20th Century Fox set to release the film.
