Asa Butterfield already cast as the new Spider-Man?

April 29, 2015 by admin

There was a rumour earlier this week that the shortlist for Marvel and Sony’s new Peter Parker/Spider-Man included Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), Liam James (2012) and Asa Butterfield (Hugo). Well, according to new rumours, young Asa Butterfield has already nabbed the role.

Famed rumour starters and speculation artists Latino-Review are reporting that Butterfield is not just the front runner for the part but has indeed been cast as Spider-Man. The site claims that Marvel “liked him since day one”.

Spider-Man is set to debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, which starts production in June. So regardless of who does have the role, we should know officially very soon. The Web Crawler will then get his own solo movie in 2017, which is looking to be helmed by Drew Goddard.

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on April 29th 2016 in the UK and May 6th in the States, with a cast sees Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Falcon), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch) and Frank Grillo (Brock Rumlow/Crossbones) alsongside new additions Chadwick Boseman (Get on Up) as T’Challa/Black Panther and Daniel Bruhl (Rush) as Baron Zemo.
