A New 007!? Aaron Taylor-Johnson reportedly offered James Bond role

March 19, 2024 by EJ Moreno

We knew Eon Productions, which produces the Bond films, was gearing up to bring back James Bond, but could they have already found their 007?

Multiple reports have put Aaron Taylor-Johnson has all but confirmed as the new James Bond. The Sun broke the story today, followed by Sky News and People, that Taylor-Johnson had the role, and they are just waiting to confirm the news.

The Sun reports that a source says the contract will be signed as soon as this week. According to the source, “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table, and they are waiting to hear back.” The source adds, “As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days, and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

This goes back to 2022 when The Sun reported that Taylor-Johnson screen tested for Bond in front of producer Barbara Broccoli at Pinewood Studios. The insider notes that even though casting and production were delayed due to the strike, “a script was now being worked on, with production scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a 33-year-old English actor best known for his work in Kick-Ass and his role as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He reportedly beat out names like Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy for this role. The source tells the outlet that the studio believes the actor is the “perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel Craig left off.”

With Aaron Taylor-Johnson already working with Christopher Nolan in Tenet, could this mean the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer filmmaker could also make his Bond debut? Only time will tell.

Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for the official confirmation.
