Albion Online: What to Expect

July 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

There hasn’t been much diversity in the MMORPG genre lately. Other than WoW, Final Fantasy XIV, and Elder Scrolls Online, what solid title is there to choose? Well, that’s about to change, thanks to Albion Online. It’s not just a new game, but a complete game-changer.

Smaller But More Free

Albion Online is an open-world sandbox MMORPG based on Arthurian legends. Developed by Sandbox Interactive, a studio based in Berlin, Germany, the game’s selling point is the freedom it offers players. While today’s big MMORPG names give players lots of stuff to do so that they can become something marvelous, you can still feel the rails, which isn’t the case for Albion Online.

Customization Rules? Nope!

Unlike most MMOs where equipment is limited to a particular class, characters in Albion can get equipped with any gear combination available. As for talents, instead of having a skill tree, Albion features a Destiny Board. Any skill is accessible to players, which gives them the opportunity to mix and match various abilities to make their builds unique and useful.

Content Galore

Albion Online is rich in content in both quality and quantity. Players have reason to put their builds to good use. There’s PvE content, which consists of the usual questing and monster-slaying. PvP, on the other hand, goes beyond slaughtering other players. Even though the game has lots killing, as PvP can happen anytime and anywhere (except in safe zones), this particular branch of content’s main draw is Guild versus Guild. In fact, guilds are up against each other in a bid for supremacy. Winning guilds expands territory, which they can gather resources from, and in turn widen their spheres of influence. So contribute to your guild to reap the rewards.

Outside of battle, there’s Albion Currency collecting. Whether it’s Albion Online Gold Currency or Albion Online Silver Currency, you’re on the right path to get ahead of the game. It doesn’t involve competing with other players. When stacking currency, you’re your biggest competitor. Shoot for the stars!

Interconnected

Albion Online is said to be the first true cross-platform MMORPG. Aside from the fact that it’s revolutionary, it’s a huge plus community-wise since the cross-platform capability unites players from different platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux). Playing with the family or friends even if they have a different platform then yours is the new trend that connects gamers. Also, there’s only one mega server, so you’ll be able to connect whenever family or friends are online in the game.

The game launched on July 17th. However, it has been in the beta phase for quite some time. If you want to read additional reviews or get previews of the game, then you’ll find some cool stuff from different sites. Hopefully, you’ll discover more reasons to play the game if you’re on the fence.

Openness, freedom, and cross-platform capability are what Albion has in store. You won’t find these with your run-of-the-mill MMORPG. Give Albion Online a shot. After all, games like this come along once in a blue moon.
