Anthony Ramos in talks for upcoming Transformers movie

April 2, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The franchise that won’t stay down is returning for more Autobot and Decepticon battles, and they’re bringing a Broadway star.

Multiple sources confirm that Anthony Ramos, star of the upcoming film In The Heights, is set to appear in the forthcoming Transformers movie helmed by Creed II director Steven Caple Jr.

Ramos had previously starred on the stage in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton before he quickly moved to the big screen. His acting credits include Spike Lee’s adaption of She’s Gotta Have It, Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Ramos will have his first leading role in Jon M. Chu’s In The Heights, an adaptation of another Lin-Manuel Miranda musical.

eOne, the Hasbro-owned entertainment studio, will re-team with longtime partner Paramount for this film. This film by Caple will be separate from what Charm City Kings director Angel Manuel Soto is developing. These hirings mark a significant push for diversity in the franchise, which was previously helmed solely by Michael Bay until Travis Knight came on board for 2018’s Bumblebee.

Little is known about this upcoming film by Steven Caple Jr., but sources say that they are currently screen-testing a female lead to star alongside Ramos.
