Assassin’s Creed director provides an update on both live-action and animated series

April 22, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Last year, it was announced that Netflix is currently developing a live-action series and an animated series based on the highly popular and long-running Ubisoft video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed.

Now, in an interview with Eurogamer, Assassin’s Creed transmedia director Aymar Azaïzia provided an update on both upcoming projects. In regards to the live-action series, Azaïzia stated that while the project has recently secured talent, they are unable to share any additional information as of right now.

“Yeah. [Silence, laughs.] I can’t give you any more information but we have secured a couple of talents and are working with them on the show. We don’t have anything more to announce apart from we’re working on it and have been taking our time. We learnt a lot from the movie and have a really strong team behind it, and I’m super hopeful and super happy for the format. I think the TV series format works better to craft an Assassin’s Creed story.”

Azaïzia later discussed the Netflix animated series to which he confirmed that the team is working on the Far Cry animated series first with the Assassin’s Creed series to follow afterwards.

“It’s still active – it’s the guys who brought us the Raving Rabbids TV show which have also announced the Far Cry animated series. Those guys are really focusing on that. It’s not the next project which is coming up in their pipeline but it’s still in their hands. It hasn’t been canned.”

While details on both television projects are currently scarce right now, the latest instalment of the video game series, titled Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, was released back in November for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia.
