Ben Mendelsohn to star in Stephen King’s The Outsider adaptation

December 4, 2018 by Ricky Church

Ben Mendelsohn (Captain Marvel) has joined HBO’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel The Outsider. The series was created by Richard Price (The Night Of), who has also written the script, and Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes). Mendelsohn will executive produce alongside Price and Jason Bateman (Ozark).

The Outsider follows a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy, which leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case.

As well as producing through his Aggregate Films company, Bateman will direct the first two episodes and may also star opposite Mendelsohn as the show’s second lead. The series will be produced by Aggregate, Temple Hill Entertainment and Media Rights Capital.
