Bill Murray to play the villain in Ghostbusters remake?

January 29, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It was revealed yesterday that the cast of Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters remake would be Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (The Heat), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live) and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) and now we bring some more possible casting news.

According to Hitflix, Sony are looking for original Ghostbuster Bill Murray to play the one of the villains within this remake, essentially taking on the William Atherton role from the first movie. According to the wesbite, Murry would play a character named Martin Heiss, who is “a professional supernatural debunker who is out to prove that the Ghostbusters are frauds.”

Murray has famously been the actor to hold back the momentum of the proposed Ghostbusters 3, which is now shelved completely so Paul Feig can direct this remake. He has been very vocally praising of this new remake, saying it’s a “grande idea” and publicly endorsing the casting choices of Wiig and McCarthy, the latter of which he starred alongside in St. Vincent. Feig said in an interview recently that he wanted to make “fun nods” to the original movie. Could this be one of those nods?

Would you be happy to see Bill Murray in the new Ghostbusters movie?
