Brad Pitt to star in David Leitch’s action thriller Bullet Train

July 7, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Following on from his Oscar-winning performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Brad Pitt has joined the cast of the David Leitch-directed action thriller Bullet Train for Sony Pictures.

According to Variety, Bullet Train – which is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka – will be directed by Leitch who will also be supervising the script written by Zak Olkewicz. The book follows five assassins who all find themselves on the same train from Tokyo to Morioka. However, it is unclear how much of the source material the movie adaptation will be translating to the big screen.

Although Bullet Train is his first acting job since winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for stuntman Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Pitt was originally lined up to star in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon alongside Emma Stone, but production was pushed back to 2021 due to the ongoing global health crisis.

Leitch, whose credits include Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, John Wick, and Hobbs and Shaw, will produce the project with Kelly McCormick through their company 87North, along with Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick. Brittany Morrissey is the executive overseeing the project for Sony Pictures.
