Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz set to reunite for The Mummy 4

November 4, 2025 by Ricky Church

1999’s The Mummy remake is a classic in this age of cinema, blending its horror roots of the original 1932 film to the action-adventure genre in the style of Indiana Jones. Fans will be pleased to learn, then, that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their iconic roles in a fourth Mummy film.

The Mummy featured Weisz as a librarian Evey Hammond who comes upon information on the ancient and long-lost Egyptian city of Hamunaptra, a place infamous for its legendary treasure and eerie presence. She recruits Fraser’s Rick O’Connell, the only man who has been to Hamunaptra and lived to tell the tale, on her expedition with her brother Jonathan, played by John Hannah. They inadvertently release Imhotep, a priest who was cursed to the underworld for killing the pharaoh, from his prison with plans to use his newfound powers to end the world.

The Mummy was a blockbuster success and retains an incredibly strong legacy 25 years after its release. The film spawn a sequel The Mummy Returns which featured Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in his first acting role outside WWE, and a third film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but Weisz did not return for her role in that film and was recast with Maria Bello.

The Mummy 4 will be directed by Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are known for Ready or Not, Scream and Scream VI. The directing duo recently wrapped Ready or Not: Here I Come, which is due for release April 2026.

It has not been announced if a screenwriter is attached or whether Radio Silence will write it themselves. We’ll also have to wait and see if Hannah, Oded Fehr, Arnold Vosloo or Luke Ford, who portrayed Rick and Evey’s adult son Alex in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, will return as well.
