Brian K. Vaughan says Y: The Last Man TV series still on track for 2020

August 12, 2019 by Gary Collinson

FX’s long gestating TV adaptation of the acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man suffered a setback in April when it was revealed that Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049) and Aïda Mashaka Croal (Luke Cage, Turn) had exited the project, citing creative differences with the cable network.

Fortunately for fans, FX wasted little time in announcing Eliza Clark (The Killing) as their replacement, and now comic book creator and series executive producer Brian K. Vaughan has offered an update, confirming that the series is still on track for 2020.

“The show must go on!” states Vaughan. “I’m very pleased to say the series is in excellent hands with new showrunner Eliza Clark and her intimidating squad of all-stars. TV is goddamn hard, and if the last 17 years have taught co-creator Pia Guerra and me anything, it’s that our story is particularly challenging to adapt, so I’m very grateful to everyone who’s helped get Yorick & Co. this far, especially Michael Green and Aida Croal. Anyway, stay tuned, very good (monkey) shit coming your way soon.”

Y: The Last Man sees Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) taking on the role of Yorick Brown, who along with his pet monkey Ampersand, are the last two remaining males after a global androcide. Also featuring in the cast are Diane Lane (Justice League), Imogen Poots (Green Room), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Marin Ireland (Hell or High Water) and Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours).
