Byron Bowers joins Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man

July 16, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Wonder Man is beginning to flesh out its supporting cast with Deadline reporting that Byron Bowers will join Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the upcoming Marvel Studios series. At the time of this writing, there is no word on who Bowers will play.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Daniel Destin Cretton will direct alongside Stella Meghie. Andrew Guest is the head writer of Wonder Man, and Cretton executive produces along with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Wonder Man is based upon the character of Simon Williams, a supervillain-turned-Avenger created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck. Specific details on Marvel’s plans for the character are being kept under wraps.

In the comics, Williams is the son of the industrialist Sanford Williams, who later gained control of the munitions outfit and considered himself a villainous Tony Stark. He gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, and later works with the villainous Baron Zemo until he joins The Avengers.
