Cartoon Saloon’s My Father’s Dragon gets a trailer from Netflix

October 1, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Netflix has released a poster and trailer for My Father’s Dragon, the upcoming animated adventure inspired by Ruth Stiles Gannett’s children’s book of the same name.

Produced by Cartoon Saloon (The Secret of Kells, Wolf Walkers) and directed by Nora Twomey, the film follows the journey of young Elmer Elevator as he runs away from home in search of a captive dragon, waiting to be rescued on Wild Island.

From five-time Academy Award®-nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, Wolfwalkers) and Academy Award®-nominated director Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner), comes an exquisite film inspired by the Newbery-honored children’s book from author Ruth Stiles Gannett. Struggling to cope after a move to the city with his mother, Elmer runs away in search of Wild Island and a young dragon who waits to be rescued. Elmer’s adventures introduce him to ferocious beasts, a mysterious island and the friendship of a lifetime.

The film features the voice talents of Jacob Tremblay, Gaten Matarazzo, Leighton Meester, Ian McShane, Whoopi Goldberg, Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Brody, Rita Moreno, Yara Shahidi, Alan Cumming, Dianne Wiest, Jackie Earle Haley and Mary Kay Place.

My Father’s Dragon arrives on Netflix on November 11th.
