Chad Stahelski’s Ghost of Tsushima movie adaptation adds Takashi Doscher as writer

April 13, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have announced that the award-winning writer and director Takashi Doscher has signed on to pen the screenplay for the upcoming movie adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima.

Doscher previously wrote and directed the sci-fi romance film Only, which starred Freida Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr and which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The filmmaker’s recent screenplay, Blue, is currently in development at AGBO and MGM and is said to be “a twist on a Japanese monster movie.” Doscher also wrote and directed the documentary A Fighting Chance, which aired on ESPN.

Ghost of Tsushima, the hugely successful video game from developer Sucker Punch Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment, follows samurai warrior Jin Sakai, “the last surviving member of his clan, who must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.”

John Wick director Chad Stahelski is attached to direct the film. He will also produce the project alongside Alex Young and Jason Spitz through their company 87Eleven Entertainment. While Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will produce for PlayStation Productions and Sucker Punch Productions will serve as executive producers.
