Charles Melton may have missed out on an Oscar nomination for May December, but he’s already lining up high profile roles following his critically acclaimed turn in Todd Haynes film, with the news that he’s is in talks to star in Ray Mendoza (The Terminal List) and Alex Garland’s (Ex Machina) untitled war movie for A24.
Per Deadline’s report, Garland and Mendoza will follow up their collaboration on Garland’s latest film Civil War, which is released on April 12th, by writing and co-directing the A24 war film, and that the white hot Melton is in talks for a role.
Exactly what that role entails is much like the rest of the movie, shrouded in secrecy, but it is reportedly an ensemble piece, so expect more actors to be added to the cast over the coming weeks.
Melton came to prominence with his performance on The CW’s Riverdale, and has made appearances in the likes of Bad Boys for Life and Rian Johnson’s Poker Face, but it was his breakout role in Todd Haynes’ Academy Award nominated May December, in which he stars opposite Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman, which has afforded him the pick of the projects.
Garland will have to add this to his stack of upcoming screenplays, the most high-profile of which is the recently announced 28 Days Later sequel entitled 28 Years Later.
