Chicago’s Mainframe Comic Con going forward virtually with celebrity interviews and more all for charity

Convention cancellations are occurring all over the world thanks to the the ongoing public health crisis, but thankfully there is still some geeky goodness coming our way virtually with the Chicago-based Mainframe Comic Con. Sure to be one of the best ways to unwind and momentarily divert attention away from the world on fire, take a glance at what the staff has prepared online for April 25th-26th by way of the official statement below:

The current health crisis has resulted in the cancellation of conventions and fan events worldwide, leaving the fandom community eager for something to look forward to while remaining in the safety and comfort of their own homes. Hit the hardest are the thousands of local comic book stores around the country. An already struggling industry, comic shops are finding themselves having to close their doors amidst this global health emergency, and without their existence, the comic industry as a whole is in trouble. It is out of this need for support that the Mainframe Comic Con was conceived.

Mainframe Comic Con is a 2-day online comic convention featuring the top names in the comic and entertainment industry. Each day features live remote interviews, artist sketching, cosplay contests and live comic book auctions from brick and mortar comic shops across the country.

Broadcasting from Chicago Comics in the heart of the Windy City with live remotes from all over the country, Mainframe Comic Con is a once in a lifetime experience for fans, creators and entertainers.

Check back here regularly for updates to the finalized schedule or to look at the confirmed celebrity appearances, which include icons such as Kevin Smith all the way to respected artists such as Bosslogic (a talent we admire here, spreading around his work as much as possible). Not to mention, a cosplay contest from home should ensure you don’t become rusty at crafting outfits by the time we can actually leave our homes again. And really, who doesn’t want to purchase some comic books to read while holed up for who the hell knows how long. All of this is for a charitable cause as well, with all proceeds going to Hero Initiative and Red Cross for the duration of the health crisis.
