If there’s two things Mike Flanagan loves, then it’s a Stephen King adaptation and an impressive ensemble, and he’s acted on those impulses by adding Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Jacob Tremblay (Doctor Sleep) to the cast of The Life of Chuck.
Deadline reports that the trio will join the previously announced Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill in the Stephen King short story adaptation.
After Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, The Life of Chuck sees Flanagan turning to the Stephen King section of the library for a third time, lifting the short from 2020 anthology If It Bleeds.
Described as a Benjamin Button-style tale, The Life of Chuck weaves three separate stories to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, starting with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.
While there are no details on the roles Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan and Jacob Tremblay have signed on for, Hiddleston is set to play the titular character of Charles Krantz, while Hamill has signed up for the role of his grandfather, Albie.
