Chris Evans joins Emily Blunt in big pharma drama Pain Hustlers

July 6, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Chris Evans is set to join Emily Blunt in Netflix’s criminal conspiracy thriller Pain Hustlers, which will be helmed by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter director David Yates.

Deadline has revealed that the voice of Lightyear and former shield chucking superhero will play opposite Blunt’s lead in the big pharma drama, which was purchased by Netflix for a whopping $50M during this years Cannes Film Festival.

Written by Wells Tower (The True American) Pain Hustlers will tell the story of a high school dropout (played by Blunt) who lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical start-up situated on a Florida strip mall. She catapults the company into the high life and finds herself in the middle of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.

The official synopsis for Pain Hustlers reads: “Dreaming of a better life for her and her young daughter, Liza Drake (Blunt), a high-school dropout, lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical start-up in a yellowing strip mall in Central Florida. Liza’s charm, guts and drive catapult the company and her into the high life, where she soon finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences. In the vein of The Big Short, American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street, Pain Hustlers’ is a hilarious, dramatic and wild journey to the corrupt heart of the American dream.”
